Rosacea... Symptoms, Causes and Natural Treatments for glowing skin!

Rosacea. Many people complain of it, but just as many know relatively nothing about it. Understandable as the symptoms are diffuse and while some notice signs on a constant basis, for others they may come and go, sometimes depending on various things including mood, what they’ve eaten, on stress… Symptoms, as well as the actual cause, are highly individual, meaning individualized treatment is required. Traditional medicine often prescribes antibiotics, but unless the root cause is determined, an actual solution for the problem cannot be achieved, and the symptoms will just return once the medications are completed. Naturopaths tend to have great success in treating rosacea as we probe to det

The Bitter Side of Canada's Sweet Tooth

It’s hardly “Breaking News”; we’ve all heard it 1000 times over. Everyone knows it’s very unhealthy, not to mention potentially disease causing, to overindulge in this common food additive. But regardless of this fact, sugar, especially highly refined sugars (including high fructose corn syrup: HFC), remain a common additive to the majority of processed foods available today. Even “non-sweet” foods like condiments often have massive amounts of HFC on the ingredient labels. A few questions remain: What is it that makes sugar and HFC so detrimental to our health? What do they do in and to our bodies? What Sugar and High Fructose Corn syrup do in your body: They rob your body of Essential Nutri

The Myers Cocktail - Vitamins by IV!

You may have heard about something called a "Myers Cocktail" or people getting their vitamins injected or by IV. Are you curious about this therapy and whether it may be something that could help you? What is a Myers Cocktail? A Myers Cocktail is typically a combination of Vitamins C, B Complex, B5, B6, B12, Folic Acid, Calcium and Magnesium (blended with sterile water or saline). Coconut Vanilla Ice Cream (Dairy-Free)

Just because you can’t have dairy doesn’t mean you have to miss out on ice cream (the wonderful, creamy and cool treat that’s perfect either alone and with so many of our favorite summer desserts)! If you do want to make delicious homemade dairy-free Ice Cream, then using Coconut milk is your best choice for this delicious, refreshing cool dessert. It’s thick and creamy, and also has a beautiful tropical nutty taste that’s hard not to love! If you prefer, soy and other nut milks will work also, but will produce a less creamy texture. This is a simple recipe, easy to make again and again all summer long! I’ve included both “Ice Cream Maker” and “Hand Preparation” methods. Ingredients: 2 Cups

Rhubarb-Berry Crisp/Crumble (gluten and dairy free!)

Early summer (well, all summer really!) just screams for us to devour all the fresh bounty. Bright colourful rhubarb stalks are abundant in our gardens and at the farmers markets, and now that the sun has been beating, the berries are starting to ripen to tempt us. Almost everyone can remember mom or grandma pulling a variation of this lovely dessert out of the oven. Well here’s my gluten-free dairy-free version that’s a consistent hit. It’s fast and easy, and pretty hard to mess up (unless you forget it in the oven… highly unlikely once you smell it baking!). Ingredients 4 Cups fresh Rhubarb, washed and chopped into 1” slices 2 Cups fresh Berries, gently rinsed Depending on the size, may ne
